ORCAD Schematic Design Tools
KLIC designs schematics of cells, block, and whole chips using ORCAD Capture
for Windows 7.10 by ORCAD of Beaverton,
Oregon. We have version 9, but that requires the use of a security
plug, and the extra features aren't worth carrying the darn plug around.
The netlist produced by ORCAD is used for cell verification and sometimes
functional verification. KLIC eschews "schematic-driven" simulation, and
relies on simulations based on extracted cell layouts where possible. This
not only provides realistic parasitics, but acts as another check on the
layout. Netlist and layout are reconciled with Berkeley Magic during design,
and with Cadence Dracula when layout is complete.
