The ORCNET mailing lists
There are three Orcnet mailing lists. Click on the appropriate link to subscribe:

You can find more information about subscribing at http://eeconsult.org/mailman/listinfo . The list info pages point to the signup information, preference setting, and archives. The lists are self-serve, You must sign up yourself, you will not be automatically subscribed to the mailing lists and custom papers by joining Orcnet. Self-serve lists permit you to control your own preferences, change email addresses, make vacation stops, etc. without waiting for your busy essay writer to get around to it.
You will be asked for a password - please use an easy-to-remember, low-security password. This password will be mailed to you as a reminder every month. This password protects your email preferences from casual vandalism, and gives members access to the member email archives.
You can only post to a list from the same email address that you are subscribed with. If you subscribe with an IEEE mailing address alias, such as fredflintstone@ieee.org, you will not be able to post to the list, since you cannot send email from an IEEE alias. This is inconvenient, but prevents spam.
If you want to get off an Orcnet mailing list, please find out which of your email addresses we are using, by checking the header of one of our mailings to you. Click one of these links (and ignore the top error message):

Then enter your subscription email address, and click unsubscribe. You will get a confirming email. Send that same message back as a reply, and you are off the list!
History
The IEEE-managed lists have been somewhat unreliable. They require a pesky acknowledgement stage, signup and individual subscription management is difficult, and there are no archives.
The new lists are served by the Orcnet server ( a shared server run by KLIC ) using the popular 4th generation Mailman email list program. Mailman is very powerful, and has many configuration options, but most are set to the "best" values and can safely be left as default.
